After breakfast at the camp, depart with packed lunch for Loiyangalani. On this day, you will get a chance to visit the Sarima Archeological Site. Sarima is a very important well in the South East of Lake Turkana region. The well retains the water for a long time after the rainy season, while all the other water sources dry out. Nowadays, the well is in the Lake Turkana Wind Power Project concession and sometimes not accessible. In its gorge there are a number of interesting petroglyphs that were made by the pastoralists while watering their stocks. Not much is known about those people but their lifestyle must not have differed a lot from the present ones we can meet.
We will be passing through the Lake Turkana Wind Power Project, which is the biggest wind farm in Africa and it hosts around 400 turbines producing around 310 Mw of 100% clean power. Return to the camp for dinner and overnight at PALM SHADE RESORT & CAMP (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Full day spent in Loiyangalani with visits to the Museum, Merti Acheological Site and El Molo Village. The Desert Museum in Loiyangalani is located atop a hill overlooking the lovely Jade Sea, or Lake Turkana as commonly referred. The museum aims to showcase and preserve the unique cultural and natural heritage found within the communities living around Lake Turkana
The El Molo are an ethnic group inhabiting the area around Loiyangalani. They historically spoke the El Molo language, an Afro-Asiatic language of the Cushitic branch. The El Molo are believed to have originally migrated down into the Great Lakes area around 1000 BC from Ethiopia. Owing to the arid environment in which they entered, they are held to have then abandoned agricultural activities in favour of lakeside fishing.
Most group members are today mixed with adjacent Nilotic populations, with only a handful of unmixed El Molo believed to exist. We will visit their village and their sacred site on an adjacent island.
The Merti site is located on a small cliff, east of Loiyangalani with a very nice view of the town and the lake. The cliff was probably a meeting point for the ancient pastoralists grazing their stocks and it was the shore of the lake some 8,000 to 10,000 years ago when the lake was 80/90 metres higher.
Some years ago a number of panels with rock art were discovered and some are visible without a huge walking effort. Some panels are much more difficult to get to so we will focus on the closer ones. The walk to climb the cliff is very short, some 10 minutes and once on the top, we approach the panels on a very rocky ground

Another lovely day spent in Loiyangalani with a visit to Mount Porr. Mount Porr is a cone raising from the shore of Lake Turkana around 20 kms from Loiyangalani. It is the tallest mountain in its area and has got an amazing position on the lake’s shore. From the top one can easily dominate the best part of Lake Turkana, both south and North
The climb is a medium to difficult one, but once on the top the view of the lake and its surroundings is magnificent. The top has also gotten some rock engraved by ancient populations. The way down is made easy by a stretch of sand on the northern face of the mountain.
