Bettina2024-03-11Verified Travel Kenya with Sunworld Safaris We travelled with Sunworld Safaris through Kenya in February 2024. We had a very comfortable 4x4 Land Cruiser (photographic version, which gave us unlimited views) and an excellent driver-guide NICK, who also spoke German! On some of the treacherous roads, we felt extremely comfortable with our driver, who navigated us through some notorious "Nairobian" traffic! The cooperation with Sunworld was exceptional, responding speedily and to the point. Thank you "team Sunworld" for this wonderful trip - it will never be forgotten! Sheila K2024-03-05Verified EXCELLENT SAFARI EXPERIENCE WITH SUNWORLD SAFARIS I have just returned from a 15-day safari in Kenya, booked with Sunworld Safaris in Nairobi through Let's Go Africa in Austria. The main point of the safari was to visit the orphaned elephants at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's Nairobi Nursery and the three Reintegration Units in Ithumba, Voi and Umani Springs (only possible for Foster Parents). However, there was also plenty of time for relaxation and to go on general game drives. From the very first contact with Hr. Nowak (Let's Go Africa), I was impressed by the speed and efficiency in which he responded to my questions and advised me about the various aspects of the safari. Sunworld Safaris are well versed with the set up at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust units, so they were a perfect choice to organise the safari. I agreed the itinerary with Hr. Nowak and together we managed to find 6 more participants to join the safari, in order to make it affordable. I felt very safe and confident that everything was going to work according to plan, and it did! We had the experience of a lifetime and all our expectations were exceeded. We have come home with the wish to book the next safari with Sunworld as soon as possible! Sunworld Safaris' Airport Representative, Baraka, was waiting at the airport to collect us upon arrival. We were soon joined by Armstrong, who was going to be our driver and guide for the next two weeks. We can't praise Armstrong highly enough. He is an excellent driver and guide and he has extensive knowledge of the wildlife and birds in Kenya. He looked after us well, was always punctual, polite and friendly, and was good company. He really knew how to make our safari experience the best one possible. In Nairobi we were booked into the Tamarind Tree Hotel, which is ideally located and the perfect place from which to start the safari. Before the actual "elephant safari" started, we visited the giraffe centre in Nairobi. This was a good experience and we learnt a lot about the giraffe and were able to feed them. We also did a half-day safari in the Nairobi National Park, where we enjoyed a picknick lunch. The private visit to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's elephant orphanage was very special and we were able to meet our youngest adopted elephants (and rhinos) and spend some time with them. In Ithumba (Tsavo East) and Umani we stayed at the Sheldrick's Eco Lodges. They are very comfortable, clean and full of charachter. Each Lodge is enchanting in its own way and is set in peaceful surroundings. The staff were very friendly and did everything they could to make are stay pleasant and memorable. The food in the Lodges also exceeded all our expectations! The meals were prepared by the camp chefs and were so delicious. There was always a variety of dishes and the food was healthy and nicely prepared. In both camps we were able to visit our foster elephants three times a day. The head keepers and their teams were always on hand to answer our questions and give us loads of information about the orphans, ex orphans and wild elephants who visit. It was a wonderful experience. In between our stays at the Sheldrick Lodges we spent three nights at Leopards Lair in the Lumo conservancy. This small lodge is part of Sunworld Safaris' Soroi Group. It is very well situated, with lovely views. Again, the staff were most friendly and welcoming and the food was very good and nicely presented. The accommodation is full of character and it was very pleasant to sit and relax in the open living area. Our trip ended with three nights in Ol Tukai Lodge in the Amboseli National Park. The Lodge is very well situated in the middle of the park, but it is very large (80 rooms) and touristy and it took some getting used to following our stays in the previous three small, intimate Lodges. We preferred the smaller Lodges, but there aren't any smaller lodges in the centre of the Amboseli National Park. The food in Ol Tukai wasn't that good. There was a large buffet and the food was more or less the same for lunch and dinner and every day. However, the staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Also, we were able to enjoy some fantastic game drives in the park. All in all I can highly recommend Sunworld Safaris. Their service was excellent from start to finish and I will certainly book with them again in the future. Paige R2024-02-26Verified SUNWORKLD SAFARIS IS MY GO TO PLACE. Hi, I live part time in California and part time in Kenya. My friends love to come visit me in kenya. I found that Sunworld Safaris is the best tour operator in kenya. I 💯 guarantee they will provide you with the ideal safari and experience. Travelingyogini482024-02-24Verified Trip of a lifetime. From the time we arrived until we were left at the airport, we were treated like royalty. Our guides, Diger (in Nairobi), John Leng (Samburu) and Symo and Mario (Maasi Mara) were excellent and always on the lookout for how to make our trip special. When DIger took us to the Elephant Sanctuary, he made sure that we had a great place to view the presentation, then took us to a wonderful restaurant for lunch and made sure we had plenty of time at the Kuzuri bead factory. John met us at the Samburu airport and by the time we made it to Ashnil, we had already seen 4 of the special five, watched 2 jackals eating their kill while shooing off the vultures and had learned the names of several birds. We checked in to Ashnil, ate some lunch and went out for a late afternoon ride where we saw a leopard and tracked it for awhile. Our waiter, Elvis was very friendly and helpful and when we decided to have dinner in our tents due to bugs, he very graciously brought our meals to our rooms. During the night, we had a LOT of rain and we knew that the river was raging, but we went on the morning ride even though it was raining. The rain did not deter the animals and we were soon met with a giraffe standing in the middle of the road just waiting for us. After that we saw three families of elephants and lots of other animals. We had breakfast in the land cruiser as it was still raining. Upon arriving back at the camp, we were told to pack up and were moved up to Sonara, a sister camp. The operative word being up, which was away from the river. Their staff greeted us warmly and quickly settled us into rooms. After lunch, we went on an afternoon ride and then had a wonderful dinner. Breakfast the next morning and then we were off for a leisurely ride to the airport. Upon arriving later than expected in Maasi, we were met by Symo and Mario and taken to the Bush Camp where the staff quickly put together a nice lunch for us as they realized we had not eaten since breakfast. Then, out for an afternoon ride. I cannot say enough great things about the staff at the Bush Camp. Joseph, the manager, left after our first day to go for a home visit and Mercy, Nelson and another woman stepped in and made sure that our every need was met. Donald welcomed us to all our meals and explained everything we needed to know about the food and the Professor was a great bartender. These two men made our dinners fun. And, what can I say about the food - as good as any I have had in a 5-star restaurant. I have told people it was like eating on a Viking cruise (which I consider to be the highest of compliments.) The food selections were varied and imaginative as well as delicious. We had breakfast on our drives each morning except for the last morning when we opted not to go for a drive and to have breakfast at the samp. When I came down for breakfast, I could not find where they had set it up. And, then I saw a staff member that sent me over to the bar tent. There, I found that they had set up breakfast for the three of us right next to the river. A lot of trouble for three people, but what a treat! We saw all the animals of the Maasi except the rhino. My friends at home could not believe all the animals that we saw. We saw several prides of lions, as well as 2 leopards and 2 cheetahs - one with small cubs, giraffes, elephants, gazelle, topi, oryx, impala, ostriches (with babies), monkeys, baboons, hippos, zebras, jackals and lots of birds. I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Mara Bush Camp and all the guides. And, the guards who walked us back and forth from the tents were definitely appreciated and Doris met me every morning with hot chocolate. The staff was definitely the icing on the cake for the trip. And the accommodations could not have been better! Gives a new meaning to tenting. 🙂 I have already given your information to several people and are recommending your company as the way to see Kenya. And, I would be remiss if I did not mention the guide that we had on our last day in Nairobi. He met us at the airport, took us for lunch and some shopping and then, we told him that we would be happy to just go to the airport and stay there until time to leave. He left us at the airport at 4:00 and told us to let him know when we had our boarding passes. When we got over to the terminal, they would not let us in so we called the guide. He came back for us as he had not left the grounds and then took us to a hotel where he used his connections to get us up to the roof bar where we could rest until we could go back to the airport. Again, he did not leave the airport grounds until we called and told him we had our boarding passes. From door to door, your company took care of us - through all sorts of weather. Thanks so much for a trip of a lifetime! Escape009474387502024-02-21Verified Absolutely outstanding! Our Save the Elephants tour was amazing! Can not say enough good things about our trip coordinator Carolyn and our guide Wilson Siele with Sunworld Safaris! Our visit to Sheldrick Wildlife Eco Lodges at Ithumba and Umani Springs were exceptional, along with our stay at Soroi Lions Bluff. Highly recommend!!! Paul N2024-02-18Verified Exciting and Memorable Kenyan Safari Carolyn set up our first safari and man was it GREAT! We visited Samburu, Ol Pejeta, Lake Naivasha and Maasai Mara. Carolyn answered all of our questions no matter how trivial and in a timely fashion. Thank you Carolyn. Obadiah Muraya was our guide and driver. He was the best. His tips on the photos for us guaranteed we will have photos to remember our trip forever. He always gave us exciting experiences daily. They seemed to get better and better as we went along. He was very friendly and we named him the Mayor because he seemed to know all of the guides, which help him find the best animals for us. If we would ever go on another safari, we would want him as our guide and strongly recommend him to anybody. Thank you Obadiah for the experience. Larry C2024-02-18Verified Successful first safari. Thanks, Obadiah and Carolyn! Our first safari was arranged and planned by Sunworld Safaris and it could not have turned out any better. The Tour Consultant, Carolyn Ndungu, was very responsive, knowledgeable and was very organised. She was excellent! The driver and guide assigned to us was Obadiah Muraya and he was amazing! We could not have asked for a better guide. He gave us information about the birds, animals and plants that we saw, and the reserves that we visited. Being a photographer, he always took the 4x4 from vantage points where we can get the best shots! He also had our comfort and safety in mind all the time. He stopped and networked with other guides to get information about sightings. He even helped other guides pull their stuck vehicles two times. What a team player! We thank Carolyn and Obadiah (we called him OB) for a very successful safari. Georgia R2024-02-13Verified Highly recommended! When we began to plan our African safari, a friend recommended Sunworld Safaris in Nairobi, Kenya. We are so glad he did! Our consultant at Sunworld suggested an itinerary based on our budget and the time we had available and then customized it further to better fit our travel goals. Every email was pleasant and professional and every question we had was answered promptly and with great detail. As our trip drew near they were always available to answer questions and make changes and additions to our itinerary. We ended up with a 14 day private driving safari through southern Kenya, from Maasai Mara to Hell's Gate to Amboseli and ending in Lumo Conservancy in the Tsavo area. We would not have been able to plan all this without the help of Rinu and Patricia at the Sunworld office. We requested a safari guide that was knowledgable about birds, and they paired us with Newton Kongo. Newton is a wealth of knowledge on all things natural and historical in Kenya. We were so happy with his expertise and familiarity with all the places we visited, he helped us to identify hundreds of bird species while still making sure we got great views of big game too! At the end of our trip, our flight home was cancelled. Even though Sunworld does not arrange the air travel, the team made sure that we had plenty of help making arrangements for our return trip. We never felt like we were going to be left on our own, not even for a moment. Our guide Newton and the airport transportation co-ordinator, Baraka, made the conclusion of our Kenya adventure as smooth as they possibly could. If you are considering a Safari in East Africa, I highly recommend Sunworld Safaris!! Kirsten L2024-02-11Verified Immer wieder Wir waren im Januar das dritte Mal mit Sunwold unterwegs.
