Calving of Wildebeest Adventure offers the “ultimate safari” through the Tanzanian most popular northern parks revolving around Ndutu in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It has been designed to coincide with the calving of the wildebeest that takes place in Ndutu from end of December / beginning of January to end of March / beginning of April. With some luck you will get to witness this great phenomenon which will be the highlight of your safari!!
Your accommodation has been carefully selected to include relatively small to medium size properties that offer very personalized services with an exception of Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge which is a larger property but due to cool temperatures around the crater, we feel it will provide you with the much needed warmth. The right location is equally important and this has been considered too.

Arrival can take place at any time of the day though we would recommend from noon onwards for guaranteed hotel check-in. Upon arrival, your private safari guide / vehicle will be waiting to pick you up and transfer you to your overnight hotel which is about 1 hour drive.

After breakfast at 0800 hrs, you will be picked up from your hotel and depart for Tarangire National Park which is known to boast the largest herds of elephants in East & Central Africa!! Arrival at your camp in time for lunch. This park is home to Lion, leopard, Hyena, herds of Elephant, tree climbing python, Oryx, hartebeest, zebra, Buffalo, Gazelles. Over 500 species of birds have been recorded to include red-billed quellea, kori bustard and ostrich. Baobab Trees are everywhere in the park. Full day game drives at your convenience – you may carry packed lunches so as to enjoy full day game drive IF you wish. Herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry river bed for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. It’s the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem – a smorgasbord for predators – and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed. Early morning game drive and breakfast. Enjoy another game drive as you exit the park to arrive at your lodge for lunch at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge. The lodge is located at the Crater rim, a perfect location to enjoy the crater view from any point at the lodge. Enjoy relaxing by the pool over-looking the crater or you can also do various activities like nature walks, cycling etc which can all be arranged at the hotel reception at an extra minimum cost. Situated on the quiet eastern rim of the Ngorongoro Crater the lodge is located 220 km from Arusha, approximately 4 hours’ drive and 40 minutes by air, with another 2 hour transfer from the airstrip to the lodge.

After breakfast descend for the crater floor with packed lunch for extensive game drives. This protected area is located in the Great Rift Valley and is also known as the eighth wonder of the world. The Crater actually is a gigantic fracture of the earth’s crust. The magnificent landscape consists of volcanoes, mountains, plains, lakes, forests and archaeological sites. At 1600 meters altitude the bottom of the Crater (265 km square), dotted with watering holes, offers shelter to almost 30.000 animals in an area naturally enclosed by the slopes of the volcano.
